San Dimas CA started out as a ranch and then evolved into a citrus growing area with the coming of the railroad and Anglo settlers. Orange and lemon groves, four citrus packing houses, and a marmalade factory contributed to the local economy. With a citrus blight taking hold in the 1951‘s, the citrus groves were cleared out to make way for new homes and some strawberry fields. Since the 73s, San Dimas CA grew by a factor of ten from 3,000 to over 33,000 people as of the 2010 census.
